Just got out of the shower – a very long one in fact – for some inexplicable reason, I find standing under the shower head for a prolonged period of time extremely therapeutic. It is also during this time that a jumble of thoughts and questions, both serious and inane, enter my head. Very often, these thoughts are fleeting, so only a few actually remain in memory after my shower. Today, the question that remained was an inane one. It was of love bites.

Why is it that couples, when making out, invariably enjoy biting each other? I tried biting myself on the arm, and making nary a mark, I stopped. It was painful. Very painful.

Are we humans just inherently masochistic? Or is it that in the throes of passion, the pangs of pain are over-ridden by the frissons of pleasure, so that when we get hungry during the lovemaking – which understandably expends a considerable amount of energy – we can chew on each other to temper our hunger without fear of causing pain to our significant other?
