Yippee! The probability of my returning to Singapore for the Christmas/New Year festive period has increased dramatically following my Comd’s approval of my leave application for that period. Now, it’s just a matter of ensuring that the admin department gets my flights in order, which shouldn’t be much of a problem – when a Colonel says ‘yes’ to something, people rarely drag their feet. I just hope I don’t get inserted into a crappy flight like the C130 because:

1) The flight is one hour longer than the commercial flight

2) The whole plane vibrates like some mega massage chair without the same therapeutic properties.

3) I can’t buy cheap booze since there’s no DFS at Paya Lebar Air Base.

Oh well…even if I do get stuck with the C130, I’d still be quite happy; after all, it’s been ages since I’ve been home. Not that I’m terminally homesick now, but having seen quite a number of my camp mates returning to Singapore for good in the past month has just fuelled my desire to return home sooner rather than later. Family, friends, familiar hangouts, suppers in Chomp Chomp and the Chong Pang Nasi Lemak stall – I miss all of them.

I can’t wait to go home!
