Back .
After missing in action for so long, I’m back at blogging again. Nothing much has happening during this hiatus, which is partly why I wasn’t compelled to blog. A quick update for all those whom I’ve not been communicating regularly on MSN and happen to be bored enough to be reading my blog now:
1) I was accepted by New York University (NYU), and snubbed by the University of Pennsylvania (UPenn). The rejection bruised my ego a little, but no matter, I’ll make those Ivy League snobs regret their decision one day – they’ll be begging to confer an honorary doctorate on me then (haha).
2) I’ve finally got Silver for IPPT. Yes, I know it’s really sad that I even consider this to be an achievement bearing in mind that I was gunning for Gold less than a year ago. But hey, the incessant eat, sleep and eat some more (without mandatory exercise) routine does take its toll on one’s fitness. Arguably, I could have had the discipline to train on my own, but oh well, my indolent self took over, and the swift degradation of my fitness soon followed. The monetary incentive for attaining Silver did push me out of my sedentary existence for awhile, but alas, once that was attained, I reverted to my old slobbery ways.
I really fear for my body when I go into university; if I couldn’t even maintain a regular fitness regime in army, it’d be worse when I’m left totally alone in university. By the time I graduate, I’d probably have cultivated a seasoned paunch unrivalled by even the most prosperous of 50-year-old businessmen. Perhaps, I should invest in a California Fitness Gym membership; that way, the threat of wasting my money would spur me to work out.
3) Yes! I’m still stuck in the land where booze and pork are frowned upon, and will continue to be in this pathetic state (no pun intended) until January next year if my application for extension is approved. (Yes, despite my constant whinging about the severe boredom I suffer here, I extended voluntarily. This is because if I were to weigh the boredom here against the oppressive life back in 4SIR, boredom is the lesser of the two evils so as to speak. And besides, the pay is better.=P)
Unforeseen circumstances notwithstanding, I might be able to go back for a short vacation in the Christmas period.
I guess that just about sums up the list of notable things (for want of a better word, my brain is seriously getting mouldy) that happened in the duration that I was absent from this blog. My apologies if it’s plain and dull – my life really is like that now! – but in light of the recent fracas regarding “controversial” blogs, I guess it’s advisable to refrain from relating any sordid details of my life (not that there are any) in future. It seems like freedom of speech - without repercussions - in the blogging world was just an illusion.
(After note: What the heck happened to my blog template??!!)
